Whistleblower who raised concerns about Boeing jets dies at 45.
Boeing picked off another one, it looks like. That sort of death is rare. Also very suspicious IMO.

Fast-food restaurant sales slump as more people eat at home.
Why in the world would you eat fast food now? It’s 2-3x as expensive now in real dollars as it was a decade ago, its quality is far worse, and it’s no longer even fast. They MBA thinking has destroyed all of the advantages that fast food used to have and offered nothing in return. Thus, it’s a complete mystery why people are retreating from the sector.
The people who now “cannot imagine” Russia attempting to take the Baltic states and Poland were the same ones who also “could not imagine” in early 2022 that Russia was serious about invading Ukraine.
Now imagine that.
We still donโt understand how one human apparently got bird flu from a cow.
And you might not want to know the answer to that question.
A friend to me earlier in the week: “Half the time I have no idea what you’re talking about, or if you’re serious or doing some sort of bit.”
And that was when I wasn’t semi-delirious with fever! (Hint: my whole life is a bit of a bit.)
When you’re forced to use a smartphone for a while and then switch back to a PC, you can see why so many are so eager to take PCs away from us: they are 1,000x more capable than a smartphone and allow you to think larger thoughts, not just click and drool. Steve Jobs was correct in that computers could be “bicycles of the mind.”
But ain’t nobody want that anymore.

As the top-voted comment perfectly summarizes:
Userโs email doesnโt work. User sends an email to log a ticket regarding their email problem. User waits, angrily, because no one responds.
When you first start out on help desk, you believe users must have some sort of thought process or logic, some way they navigate their days and their lives beyond just raw first-order sensations and childish wishes. Then after about six months of pain and witnessing the absolute nadir of humanity, you realize that, no, in fact they do not. You come to understand that this is typical user thought process and behavior, with rare exception:
In independent studies, it has been 28 years since a user has even been discovered to have a brain. Scientists are still searching, but not much hope remains.
When I am galactic overlord, I will endeavor to keep the genocides to a bare minimum.
If you think your cushy white collar job sucks, you should get a load of blue collar work. A friend of mine tried working in a hotel as a maid and general maintenance person. She was given no training of any kind and then screamed at because she did things wrong.
Note that she is generally capable person with a very can-do attitude and who can get shit done. (Think Kaylee from Firefly but with way better hair.)
She lasted two days. And I probably would’ve quit sooner. Not only was there no training, her boss was terrible in all other ways and she was lightly sexually harassed by two different customers in that short time (it probably didn’t help that she’s young, and looks even younger than that, but that makes it even more creepy).
Similar things (with probably less sexual harassment) happen to men as well. Blue collar work is a dumpster fire but that gets reported on a whole lot less than white collar for various reasons. And movements like #MeToo did almost nothing to help here (in fact, almost certainly did more harm than good).
Y’all idiot Northerners realize that “y’all” is not used by just black people in the South, right?
No, of course you don’t know. Pro tip: it’s used by everyone. It’s not cultural appropriation for a white person to say “y’all'” since it’s ubiquitous.
Goddamn y’all’re stupid.
You aren’t seeing as many victory dances by the “inflation is/was transitory” clowns anymore. The thing is, I really wish they’d been correct.
But it was obvious all along they were wrong and alas will continue to be wrong. And then just wait till China attacks Taiwan. After that, we’ll look back at the inflation now as the really good times.
