Had a customer tell me in a meeting that they didn’t like my company’s backup policies.

Ok? Good for you? Cool and the Gang?

I nicely and politely said the corporate equivalent of, “I don’t give a fuck, deal” and then ignored all requests to change them1. Customers be crazy, man.

  1. They wanted the right to delete any data from backups that might be associated with them. Yeah, no, not gonna happen.

Ha. I’ll never forget one time I was walking along, my partner holding my right hand and a woman friend of mine holding my left hand. It was somewhere fairly crowded in public as we encountered heading the other way a guy and his girlfriend or wife. His presumed partner was actively nagging him about something as we passed; you could just tell this was her normal mode of operation. Before he noticed us, his visage was hangdog, miserable, a man in hell. But it was going to get worse.

The doomed man saw our happy little group and such a look of abject envy and anguish passed over his face I had to quickly turn away so he wouldn’t see my reflexive laugh at how quickly his face transformed from misery to bitter covetousness.

I hope he escaped whatever was going on there and found something better.

I had that exact experience in Israel in the 1990s.

Went there, and I was stunned by how incredibly beautiful nearly all of the women were. Young, old, it didn’t matter. All were gorgeous. At first I didn’t comprehend how. I just thought it was something in the water. I had no idea.

Then I realized after about a day that I’d seen maybe one slightly overweight woman and zero obese ones. Additionally, the women were far more fit and put together in general. It was such a different world. That’s when I realized that most people could be pretty attractive if they, first and most important, drop the extra weight, and also take care of themselves fitness-wise and dress well. To use the rather-distasteful but useful typical numerical rating, being skinny vs. being overweight or obese can easily cause you to go from a 3-4 to a 7-8 with no other changes.

Israeli women tended to do all of the things I mentioned above so they all seemed like goddesses compared to most American women.

While I was there I hooked up with an Israeli woman who would’ve easily been a 10/10 in the US but there she was just…a fairly normal girl. I’m more than happy with my life now but we connected before email was a thing so didn’t stay in touch. She was such a fun person and I’m glad I got to spend a little time with her.

One of Gen Z’s problem is they don’t want the world to be this way. But it is and ever will be. And I love it, especially after how I grew up I fucking love it.

Shave my hair and move to Indonesia? I can do it. Decide to become a goat farmer? It can be done. Most limits people have are self-created. And to borrow something from the philosopher Baby Queen (and my current tagline), “If it’s inconsequential then there′s infinite potential.”

That’s the very best thing about this universe in my book.

A German online friend that I’ve been talking to for over a decade has wrapped up all her affairs in Germany and moved to Switzerland — principally to remove herself from the ever-present threat posed by North African and Islamic male immigrants. She was in constant danger.

After witnessing a gang rape from her window on the street below, she was done. All North African men, by the way. No German-heritage, contra liberal pieties.

She realized that one day that woman being brutalized on the street would be her. And she was done.
