The prosecution of Daniel Penny, the murder of Debrina Kawam by immolation on the NYC subway and the slaughter of Iryna Zarutska pretty much fully turned me against the Democrat/liberal notions of how we should handle public disorder and crime.

Basically, we should be nearly zero tolerance for adult offenders and put people in jail for a long, long time on the first offense. I don’t mean for something like shoplifting. I mean for any violent crime and for repeat offenders who commit property or other crimes. Even for those who are “just” harassing or hassling others, we should be pretty punitive. The whole liberal shtick of, “The poor downtrodden vagrant should get a few free sexual assaults and murders to make him feel better” just doesn’t fly with most people. I don’t give a shit what fake racial disparities it causes. As they used to say, if you can’t do the time don’t do the crime. We need to get back to that and away from the liberal nonsense of, “Having a young woman or two raped and murdered is a small price to pay for a vagrant not to experience a micro-aggression.”

Getting it wrong by arresting the wrong person sometimes is worth it to avoid animals running loose making the world worse for everyone.

I’ve noticed this phenomenon more widely! And I think it has to do with generational differences. Cloistered Gen Z — because they never do or experience anything — believes nothing ever happens because that is their life: sit in front a screen, inhale AI and TikTok slop, never go out, never face the world and its trials and tribulations. Every day is the same. So anything that is more than that seems wildly implausible to them.

Older generations who have not been screen-locked and helicopter-parented their entire lives have been enmeshed in the wide panoply of human experiences and know how wildly varied the world can be. So things that happen quite frequently seem totally normal to them.

I truly do think that’s what is occurring.

Why did I get rejected?

As is the case with nearly every straight woman alive, this person has absolutely no fucking clue what dating is like for men, how we lead a life constant rejection (and even worse, pre-rejection), and how that impacts everything we do when we talk with women we’re interested in romantically.

Of course you’re not going to reject me! I’ve basically been interviewing you, and who doesn’t love being asked insightful things about their life and opinions?!

Oh fuck, this right here is about the very top thing men hate about dating! MEN DO NOT WANT TO BE INTERVIEWED/INTERROGATED AS PART OF A DATE.

Again, for all the women: MEN DO FUCKING NOT WANT TO BE INTERROGATED AS PART OF A DATE.

How can so many women just not understand this? This writer sounds absolutely insufferable, by the way. I thank all the gods I’ve never gone on a date with her. If my partner is kidnapped by aliens and I decide to date again, I’m adding her name to the list of “Big Always Nope.”

I can’t imagine why! It’s because 99.999999999% of the time any time a man talks about sex frankly with a woman, he’s demonized, castigated and thrown to the wolves. It’s never, ever, ever, ever a good idea unless it’s someone you already know really well. There’s absolutely no upside in it for a man at any time. Not ever. Don’t do it. Don’t land in that trap.

(I do talk about sex with my platonic female friends, and sometimes quite extensively, but we’ve known each other for a long time.)

Getting dating advice from a straight woman for a man is totally worthless. Might as well get dating advice from a cat, or a turnip. It’ll help just as much. Maybe more as since they cannot talk, at least it will not be bad advice.

Dot Campbell is one of the few characters from a TV show I think about fairly frequently. Shannon Berry is just so fucking good in that role in The Wilds; one of my favorite TV performances.

And I identified with Dot, of course. She’s someone always underestimated, invisible to her peers, but on top of things. Always watchful and always a bit apart. That’s me, basically.

Mia Healey also did a great job with Shelby Goodkind. The whole cast of the first season of that show was top notch, actually. They elevated the show beyond what it should have been.

But it’s only Dot that I think about sometimes. She seemed completely real to me.
