Visual Basic programs were very much real programs, and VB is a true programming language by any definition one cares to apply. It is a high-level one, sure, but so are almost all languages anyone uses today.
Not sure why people insist only that systems-level (capable) languages (C, C++, Rust, etc.) are โrealโ programming languages, but itโs just not true. Any language where you can tell the damn computer what to do is a real programming language. There are no exceptions to this.
