It is self-inflicted. Iโm always surprised when I travel to other countries and services like mass transit and health care just work and donโt look to be in complete shambles. The centrist cry of โnothing is possibleโ is easily disproven by visiting nearly anywhere thatโs not the US. The fact that a majority of people have never or very rarely travel outside of the country is probably the only way this deception is so easily promulgated. Note that this is true in many countries far poorer than the US, so itโs not just a matter of money.
