There's never going to be a meaningful amount of space colonization and the human race is going to die out right here at home. I mean, how long are we supposed to put up with this charade?

The future is very long, unknown and unknowable. Nothing about space colonization violates any laws of physics so it is a possible outcome and given long enough time and the survival of the human race (in some form), even a probable one.

This is an example of the ignorance of extrapolation from the now. Never works, and in the end you almost always look stupid.
