There's really no difference between what's happening in corporate marketing campaigns, public relations, election campaigns, non-profit activism, clandestine propaganda campaigns by intelligence agencies, etc. The same firms and people are involved in all of them.

That is true. Same people, same firms, same messages. One of the reasons culture seems and is so uniform now. Those who shape it are only a few thousand, and all hail from the same schools and schools of thought.
