What we know about Sydney’s Delta variant.

Australian full vaccination rate is only 10% still. This was always the risk to countries that had “controlled” Covid like Australia — they would (and did) get complacent, and when a worse variant emerged, they would be at extreme risk due to low vax rates and no natural immunity built up.

I hope for the best for them, but my guess is self-punishing countries like Australia will spend years if not decades in rolling lockdowns and such now, with travel restrictions lasting just as long. And at worse, the Delta variant might tear through there despite their best efforts.

Prison countries are going to be a fact of life for a quite a while it appears.
