Another odd liberal move, excused and justified under the “protection from harm” bullshittery, is a return to explicitly transactional relationships. Oh, they still have the veneer of love, and use the vocabulary and framework, but scratch even a fraction of an inch below the surface and it becomes just about socioeconomic status and policing “appropriate” relations within those bounds, and regarding class status.

In the (neo)liberal mind, everyone has a price, and if you can’t pay then the algorithm shouldn’t put you together. And the algorithm knows all and is the arbiter of all worth.
