This is 100% incorrect. Units are generally considered combat ineffective at 50-69% strength.
This doesnโt mean a unit is incapable of defending itself or even of undertaking certain tasks; it just means it cannot effectively prosecute active combat operations.
Generally, most commanders consider a 33% casualty rate to make a unit combat ineffective FYI. Sometimes, I think non-military people should just not be allowed to write about military topics at all.
