Similar to my BBQ restaurant scale:
*Clean & empty; lots of cute pig decorations; long menu = Low expectations
*Crowded, small, grimy, limited menu = looks promising
*Building about to fall down; get past a couple of old loose dogs to get in; menu has 3 items = Eat everything!

This is it exactly. It probably won’t be a good bbq place unless it looks like you might disappear into the building never to be seen again.

I need to find some good bbq around here now that the church seems to have stopped doing it (we miss you, Eli!).
