I’ve often — even on this very site — marveled about that too.
“Oh, look at Mike, he remembered something that happened longer ago than last week. He’s an arrogant bastard. What is he, some kind of historian or something?”
If you actually remember stuff that occurred and can bring it to bear in a conversation you are seen as cheating, or putting others at a disadvantage. It’s extremely fucking odd.
