Do people really not understand when they say, “Elon Musk’s companies are subsidized by the government,” that every other large fucking firm in the country also receives massive government subsidies? How can you be that clueless?

If Tesla hadn’t been subsidized it would never have been competitive against oil company interests as they receive billions and billions a year of direct and indirect subsidization. And the same for the large car companies, especially US-based ones (the foreign ones also receive subsidies, just mostly not from the US).

This argument against Musk — while I am not fan of his — is fundamentally disingenuous. Even when not employed against Musk it makes no goddamn sense as I think companies should receive government support if they provide societal and social benefits of some sort.

Or would you prefer that the government not have provided funds and other support for Covid and other vaccines? For electrification? For housing? Be clear now. Because y’all fuckers dumb.
