This person has been in the fucking trenches. That’s exactly it. You’re seen as the “computer janitor” no matter what level you reach. Hell, I have “director” in my title and am senior to nearly everyone and people get pissed off when I tell them to put in a help desk ticket for their laptop won’t play audio through their headphones.

As if my manager wants to be paying me large sums per hour to help some salesperson unmute his headphones.

Every job has its drawbacks, but it’s uniquely an IT thing where people believe you owe them your time for the most trivial bullshit, no matter what your job description is or what you might be working on otherwise.
