Lan del Ray is a pale and soulless imitation of Hope Sandoval. If she were a good imitation, I might like her music. But she does’t even aspire to mediocrity.

But why would you try to imitate Hope Sandoval? It cannot be done. Failure is the only option — and one that Lana achieves quite readily.
