One of the biggest landlords in Los Angeles just defaulted on $755 million in loans for two sky scrapers as remote work keeps offices vacant.

This is what a lot of the Return to the Office stuff is about. Everything else is just window dressing and propaganda (some of it quite well-done propaganda). In other words, it’s all about attempting to preserve the value of commercial real estate.
