U.S. didn’t have to drop atomic bombs on Japan to win war.

Truman used the atomic bombs to signal the USSR to back off and that they shouldn’t try to aggressively seize territory or challenge the new US hegemony in the Pacific.

It was an inexcusable real-world demonstration of what the US could do.
