Some goofus was complaining on Reddit that Kingโs Pet Sematary was predictable in its denouement. Buddy, itโs a Greek tragedy in modern form. Itโs supposed to be predictable. Thatโs how tragedies freakinโ work. The same person moaned a lot that the protagonist was arrogant. Well, yes. Because, see aboveโฆGreek tragedy, remember? Hubris is always involved.
Just because heโs likably arrogant/hubristic doesnโt mean fate ainโt gonna bring the hammer down. Because it did. The ending was assured once the protag decided to treat with the gods, and to act as one. Thatโs the whole goddamn point. Fuck.
