John Goodman was terrifyingly perfect in 10 Cloverfield Lane. He deserves an Oscar nomination.
I donโt really care about Oscar nominations, but both John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are perfect in that film. And I love that it pokes two fingers in the eyes of the lit realism camp (which is why it and Goodman didnโt get nominated, truly).
Even when you know mostly where the film is going, itโs still a great and chilling journey.
Oscar nominations haven’t happened yet, though I agree neither Goodman or Winstead will be nominated (and both should).
But the link talks about him as a Supporting Actor which is nonsense. There were three cast members, he deserves a nomination as Best Actor. The guy who played Emmet would maybe qualify as supporting actor. I thought the end was a too cliched and too drawn out but other than that great movie.
The scene where they are playing the word game is just devastating in what it says about Goodman’s character…. a great example of showing and not telling
