just thought of a fucking amazing network design: 10.10.y.z ip schema, where x is VLAN, y is the switch and z is the port. 10.30.3.15 = VLAN 30, switch 3, port 15. locate anything instantly.

Until you inevitably need to use smaller subnets or change configs; then you are totally screwed and have to destroy the system or redesign everything. Also, it would be likely to waste many IP addresses in all sorts of different ways.
Thatโs why you donโt do things like this system. Itโs extremely fragile and wasteful. Instead, you document. The best data centers Iโve worked in had documented the location of every cable, port, and what it was all connected to, and kept it updated.
