Isle See You

Whatโ€™s the allegedly all-important โ€œstages of lifeโ€ nonsense people always bring up when they talk about how age gap relationships (romantic or otherwise) are worse than the apocalypse?

I have no idea what that could even mean. I realize that I am abnormal in many ways, but if youโ€™re an adult whatโ€™s the difference if youโ€™re in college or working or sailing the Greek isles on a gap year or sabbatical or whatever? Itโ€™s what you have in common that matters.

Perhaps itโ€™s because I live in my head so much, if someone can hold their own intellectually with me1 I donโ€™t give a crap what supposed clownishly superficial โ€œlife stageโ€ they are in. You can either understand what the fuck Hume was talking about or you cannot. Your mind can either dance or it canโ€™t. The rest is irrelevant to me.

And I know I am only attracted to (as either friends or lovers) headstrong women, so perhaps that also makes a difference. I donโ€™t have time nor heart for the weak.

I just canโ€™t imagine putting so much focus on something thatโ€™s largely irrelevant2 and then losing out on so much else.

  1. Admittedly, thatโ€™s a very small set of people.
  2. As long as both people are adults.
