I think there is something to this. Men are told countless times they need to tame their worst instincts and impulses. Meanwhile, women are celebrated for expressing theirs.

Women need just as much help subverting suicidal empathy and excessive neuroticism as men do aggression and tendency to violence. And instead of helping them minimize those impulses and channel them productively, we celebrate their existence and the destruction they cause.
