Another thing that’s odd about the “debate” about if women athletes should have bodies in public is that from the 1980s up until about 2008 or so all athletes (men included) used to wear much more revealing outfits to compete. I’m old enough to remember when women tennis pros wore normal underwear while playing and no one cared. Now they often have shorts that are longer than their tennis skirts1. I mean, I don’t really care. Wear whatever you like — my point is that norms changed a whole lot as the New Morality and New Prudishness kicked in. Denying that is something only clown-ass morons do.
And now that athletes are already wearing more prude-friendly clothing, there is a demand that yet more must be concealed.
