This is absolute nonsense.
Personal example: I work for a small SaaS company. I do not typically write much about my day job. However, Iโll make an exception for the moment, with specific and identifying details omitted. Anyway, for various reasons two developers recently departed. We will not replace them because Claude can do their jobs as well as they did them or better.
If another dev leaves, we will also not be replacing that person.
In addition, recently, a person from the support team left for greener pastures. Because we now have AI on the front end of our support process and it answers questions pretty well (has been trained on many, many past tickets), it has reduced actually-entered tickets a human has to handle by 30%. Which means that support role went unfilled as it was not needed.
Thatโs three actual jobs, deleted. Like I said, the company is not that big, so thatโs a significant percentage of our workforce. This is happening all over the world now.
So, yeah, what Ben is peddling is a laughable lie.
