It is good. Very good. Better than it has any right to be.

Even my one complaint — that Summer H. Howell is too pretty for the role¹ — is obviated by the context in which Flanagan embeds Summer as Carrie. Anyway, Summer is great in the role; she nails it. And without that the whole series would fall apart.

It’s just really well done. Watch it.

1. In the book and 1976 film, Carrie is very plain and though she can clean up ok, is not pretty. Even Sissy Spasek, to be fair, was a bit too pretty for the part.
