I’ve become an expert at hacking, whacking and cracking Mozilla’s anti-user features. Just spent part of the afternoon manually editing a Firefox sqlite database to get around another anti-user feature they claim is for “security” but is really there just because they like being petty authoritarians.

The primary unfairness in dating — and one thing incels are completely right about — is that mediocre women get 100x as much attention and interest as even above average men. To receive the attention that a totally average woman gets, you need to be a top 0.1% man.
And that’s actually a pretty huge and psychologically-damaging inequity. It doesn’t make how incels deal with it likely to work or morally correct, but they are not wrong at all with their diagnosis.
Why is everything so convoluted these days?
In the tech world, everything has become difficult and convoluted because all is now becoming aimed at experienced developers instead of any users or sysadmins.
And it’s just become more complex in general. When I started you could do the job with a 110 IQ. Now you need 130 at least — more like 140+ to do it well. At some point we’ll reach an upper limit to being able to find humans to do the work as those with 140 IQ and above are only 0.48% of the population.
Will AI help with this? Maybe. But the base knowledge has to be generated by humans first. In tech and in many other areas, we’ve created a civilization too complex for most of the people who live and work in it to begin to understand.
RTO of course has absolutely nothing to do with productivity. In fact, it almost certainly decreases it as who can get any work done with all the noise and clamor in an average office?
But it is being done to prop up other business interests, such as commerical real estate and downtown business owners who want to force people into an office so their businesses can make money peddling overpriced, shitty sandwiches and drinks.
I will never work in an office again. I will start my own business before that happens. I am, depending on the task, 2-100x more productive working from home.
Firefox really, really sucks. Too bad all the other browsers are even worse.

Only Gen X and older Millennials know how to use a computer to get anything done. The rest are utterly incompetent. It’s sad because smartphones and tablets are only 1/1000 as powerful as even the worst computer.

Any advice from women on how to date women (unless she herself is a lesbian) is terrible. It’ll fail you completely. It’s the worst advice in the universe. If you like being friendzoned1 instantly, use dating advice from straight women.

That’s also a good point in this thread that men are either seen as a threat or are invisible like a chair until they are useful.
That’s the experience of about 95% of men throughout their entire lives. I know that women often hate being noticed, but now that women notice me for the first time in my life commonly, it’s a nice change. Turns out you only have to work out for thousands of hours, eat right for years, dress flatteringly, be confident, have money and have loads of swagger for some women to pay you even a little bit of attention.

Most of you won’t care about this, but Microsoft Graph is aimed at developers.
And that makes it nearly useless for sysadmin types like me. As are many other tech companies, Microsoft took away anything that made administration easy and is transitioning everything into a shitty development role. So now you have to write a thousand lines of code for what used to be a single-line command (not exaggerating; it really is that bad).
There’s no motherfucking way I’m going to start writing C# code just so I can add a few users to Active Directory. Fuck Microsoft and any clown who had anything to do with Graph.
It’s another example of making everything easy for developers but far more difficult for anyone who actually needs to be productive rather than sitting in front of the little code box and typing your little codes.

It’s been abnormally warm for a few days (15 degrees above the average high today) and I love it. It’s the first time I’ve felt truly warm since last October.

Exactly. I’ve seen even friends of mine claims that Russian-speaking Ukrainians who identify themselves as Ukrainian are “really” Russian because of their language. I was not shy in pointing out how very insane that sounds.
