Agreed to Disagree

The latest “feminist” argument seems to be that since women are agreeable, that nothing that happens to them and no choice they make is ever their fault. It’s, mostly, dirty men and sometimes corporations.

Love it. Way to take responsibility and be accountable.

I don’t think women realize what sort of hole they are digging from themselves, but I hope they like being housebound and considered children again. They will have no one to blame but themselves when that happens.

We definitely will not conquer the galaxy with this kinda shit going on.

What Is Binary?

Does anyone else have like ZERO patience for developers that don’t know how to computer?

What’s odd about these threads is how many people vehemently insist that even developers should not have any idea how to use a computer and should not be expected to comprehend anything about one.

I expect the (also-wrong) defense of end users not knowing the name of an application they’ve been using for 15+ years and the like. But to see people claiming that even devs should not know the first thing about their own tools and the targets of their programming is fucking infuriating.

We systems types really are expected just to do everyone else’s jobs these days, aren’t we?

(And the title of this post is in reference to a developer at an early job of mine who didn’t know what binary was and asked me, “So, what is binary?” I was utterly flabbergasted.)

Pow Imp

AITA for pointing out the truth to my brother?

I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen “power imbalance” applied to a man being an alleged victim of one.

In feminist discourse only women can be completely powerless fragile effectless flowers in their own lives, never men. Not exactly refreshing to see it changed up, exactly, but that it did happen at all is remarkable.

But Jesus fuck, let people lead their own lives. Neither one of them are hurting a fly, and I’d say the same thing if the relationship was the other way around.

All we really have is a clown imbalance.

Loser Poser Does Not Rhyme Dammit

Yup.

The reality is that other than a few losers who try to date younger women because they can’t get anyone else to go out with them (and then usually not even younger women), in my experience it is the younger women who seek out and flirt with older men.

Of the women who’ve flirted with me over the past few years since I’ve gotten massively hotter, 95% of them have been under 30, and 80% of them have been 25-ish or under. Note that I ain’t done shit. I didn’t encourage it or even do anything about it. It’s all them.

The “terrible exploitive men taking advantage of the poor utterly helpless (but somehow still omnipotent girlboss) women” feminist narrative falls apart very quickly when examined. And even moreso when you realize it’s all about female intrasexual competition and has very little to do with anything else. Modern feminism wants power with no accountability or responsibility. And that’s not going to work out well for it at all.

Facefront

It is incredibly tiring to have personally observed the dramatic rise in housing costs over the course of my lifetime, only to encounter brazen denial from the willfully blinkered who dismiss what is both empirically evident and a legitimate source of persistent angst for younger generations.

I know the denialists are terrified of having their house price fall as the majority of most people’s net worth is tied to that risky asset. However, I also do not give a fuck. Making up fake charts and graphs to “prove” things are better than ever just makes me want to clown on you however I can.

Because buddy, if you can’t see what is right in front of your face, my sympathy diminishes very quickly.

Sky

Bluesky is a weird place.

About 90% of it is whacked-out libs salivating over all they are going to be forced to take away from everyone and how nothing is funny ever, especially if it’s from or by a white person.

And they wonder why Trump won.

Quite In

It was hellish. At least half the reason Bernie Sanders never made it past a primary is that too many Millennial women equated his very existence for some reason with an unforgivable slight from a past boyfriend of theirs.

Contrary to popular opinion, inceldom exists among women. More than anyone admits. It doesn’t quite look like it does in men (and is less violent, though even among men violent inceldom is very, very rare) but feminism basically became full incel over the last decade-and-a-half. Too many women grew up and realized they were not in fact the specialest girl after all and never recovered from that insight.

And for those reasons as well as its weird worship of radical Islam, contemporary feminism is quite shit.

Not So Rosy

This is not at all a good comparison at all so you deserve the wrath. It is intellectually dishonest and it hides more than it reveals — though it employs all the usual nonsense of denying that anything is now worse than it was in the past. The same tired, wrong arguments get trotted out every time:

1) Houses are bigger now! Who gives a crap. I can’t buy a fraction of a house.

2) Interest rates are lower. This matters some, but the down payment is still huge and lower interest rates still might mean that you pay more over time because you have more principal to pay off. And obviously, it misrepresents affordability by changing the standard by which you measure it. It also ignores renters, which are ~30% of the population. Renters don’t really benefit from lower mortgage rates, and with house prices shooting up, more people become renters thus leading to higher rent. QED.

Another relevant factor that these “everything is so super-duper rosy” types ignore: Household size has changed dramatically since 1980. This matters a lot as there are far more single people now, households are a lot smaller, but house sizes are increasing. This means that smaller households have a more difficult time purchasing anything at all.

I knew people in the 1990s who bought large homes with one person working a blue-collar job in medium-size markets (so not rural) that now would have no hope of purchasing the smallest condo available (much less house) in those same markets working the same job.

I’m not sure what the major malfunction of the people who trot out graphs like that is. They can’t see the obvious, no matter how many people show it to them. They must not want to see.

Backdoor NIMBY

What Determines Rent?

This is a great example of a very clever person using their sharpness to deceive. This piece is using a lot of econ (emphasis on the “con”) terms and pseudointellectualism to sneak in NIMBYism. Essentially, this entire argument is purpose-built to say: We shouldn’t build anything because landlords will inevitably charge the monopoly price no matter what.

I’m sure someone proposed building an apartment complex in his neighborhood. So now he’s upset because his house price might fall and writes this article “proving” it’s a bad idea.

Meanwhile, when Austin built more new apartments than anywhere else in the country, rents fell a large amount. Shocking.

All of this is a result of NIMBYs and the left utterly despising the Klein & Thompson Abundance book. It really gave them quite a scare and bedevils their dreams. Just the thought of someone slightly poorer than them living anywhere nearby keeps them up at night.

So they write clownish sophistry like the article to which I linked.

Escape

Pandemic Revisionism, Part One: COVID-19 Origins.

Moronic.

The only story that makes sense is number 2, a lab escape. No, Covid-19 was not created by China. Perhaps altered a little. But that it rode out on or in some researcher from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (and Poor Biosecurity) is blindingly obvious.

What this goofy doofus writes about the WIV’s biosafety is simply a lie. It was using live virus sample at BSL 2 and 3. That’s well-known and very well-documented (no, I will not do your research for you).

Why lie? Of course. Doesn’t want his funding cut.

Fuck this clown.

High Q

Exactly. Entire industries are already having their entry level tier eviscerated. This means that they will never have competent workers again. In most fields, it takes 3-5 years of constant learning and OTJ training for someone to become actually productive.

I don’t care how smart you are. Even if you have 250 IQ, you won’t be able to do what I do (or a lawyer does, or an accountant) if you don’t see and do a lot of low-level tasks in the field first. It’s just not possible. And with AI eliminating those jobs, it removes the feeder from “apprentice” to “master.”

Very bad.
