I think it’s fair to say that I don’t use things the same way normies do. And that’s only my main machine. There are three other VMs I regularly use too running various OSes.

It was too long ago now so I cannot find it, but do you remember that one prominent economist who during the height of the Great Recession claimed that the high unemployment was caused by millions of people just deciding not to work? That was some wild shit. And all too much of the econ establishment bought that specious and absurd contention.

In a way, it reminds me of those who have recently averred that Long Covid would end civilization. Just insanely clownish crapola that too many put any sort of credence in. It is to laugh.

Aww hell no. This sounds like the worst torture imaginable. I’d rather live with a troupe of baboons. This would be the worst thing ever. Glad it works for others, but the unpleasantness of this to me is unimaginable.

The goal of Hamas is to have as many Palestinians die as possible to further their military and strategic imperatives. Israel is obliging them as it has little choice in the matter. After the October 7 slaughter, if I were Israel I would’ve glassed Gaza* so in my view Israel is being quite restrained. Hamas is one of the most evil organizations on the planet and Palestinian culture is incredibly demented. And nearly all of the opposition to Israel is just plan antisemitism dressed up as something noble.

Palestinians are the world’s consummate pseudo-martyrs, forever enacting a ridiculous cosplay of victimization that is backed neither by facts nor history. Yes, innocents are suffering there — but that is the way that Hamas and many Palestinian “activists” want it.

Israel’s response is tepid compared to what I would have done in their place, and what probably should be done.

*If it weren’t for, you know, the radioactive fallout and such.

Someone on Reddit asked if it is possible to find someone attractive but not be attracted to them. Of course it is. I find Aella attractive and interesting, but I’m not attracted to her. If I were single and desperately horny, I still not would not want to get down with her. Like many very attractive women, she’s got tons of neuroticism, likes to “shit test” guys and her whole approach to sex and romance is just extremely unappealing to me.

So she’s attractive but very unattractive to me.

For most (nearly all) people, tattoos are a form of self-harm and not self-expression, induced by a sick culture rather than any true desire to convey anything meaningful to the world or even to one’s self. It’s clear when you ask about them and they can barely say anything about the tattoos.

I’m not afraid of dogs, but I distrust them greatly, especially big ones. Dogs kill more people annually than any other large animal, and it’s not even close. I wish dogs were banned in any city and for anyone who does not have at least five acres of land.

It’ll never not be hilarious to me that the Ukrainians broke the Russian naval blockade in the Black Sea with nearly no navy to speak of. To Ian Welsh, that’s Russian winning.

Thinking about Microsoft Recall now. I realized its true purpose today. There was some incompetence there, of course, but I believe Microsoft expected some pushback and that this seemingly-botched release was a “foaming the runway” event.

Recall’s true raison d’être is to be used for worker surveillance. It was never intended for home use. Not really. The predictable pushback was just to make it visible to MBA pro-surveillance types. Now it is; goal achieved. Recall will be an absolute boon for the type of sociopaths who desire such things. And it will of course harm workers greatly.

Now I understand why what occurred happened. Otherwise, it just made no sense. Expect Recall to be baked into Enterprise versions of Windows, and your boss spying on your in an incredibly intrusive way soon enough.

It’s funny seeing people addicted to social media and smartphones coping with the reality of their addictions by claiming against all evidence that it’s not social media or phones that the problem, man, it’s, like, society that’s really what’s holdin’ me down….

Sure, sure, that’s gotta be it. Addicts always sounds the same. Been around them my whole early life so I am very familiar with the signs, rationalizations and justifications they toss out. It’s the same old script that’s probably been happening since someone first discovered you could chew on some weird leaves in 100,000 B.C. and forget about your troubles.

Meanwhile, smartphones and social media are a level one cognitohazard for most people — and are especially bad for girls and women. That’s the reality.

I thought smartphones were the worst thing that could happen to computing, but I was wrong. Turns out it’s AI. How can worse and worse calamities keep occurring?
