Really excellent cover.

GGG
This is better than the album version of the song, despite the poor audio quality of the VHS rip. And speaking of outfits, I think Hope’s simple velvet skirt, high boots and sheer long-sleeve top over a medium-strap tank seen here is my favorite goth girl getup of all time*.
I like how forward the bass is in this version a lot. And this is also the rare song with a great outro.
*And by that, yeah, I mean she looks great in it, but just about any girl would look damn good in an outfit like this.
Old Tuneage
I’d be a lyre if I told you this was anything other than pretty great.
Right Back To It
Great song and beautiful swamp; swamps are my natural habitat. I like Katie’s outfit too. It looks practical and comfortable.
BZK
I love Baby Queen so much. Some of the things in the song people have said to me in those exact words.
I revel in being a buzzkill these days, though.
Mercy
What a voice.
MUNA – I Know a Place
Great song and also another great, asymmetrical haircut. Katie’s (the lead singer’s) first outfit is cute too — works so much better than I would’ve thought if someone just described it to me. There are a few shots that you can see the back of Katie’s head and the cut is even more epic when you can witness the whole deal.
Go Dig My Grave
This was probably the best song released in 2023.
Does nothing it should, and yet everything is just right. Talent beyond talent to do something like that.
Hannaime
These days, I’m a tough customer when it comes to making me laugh. I can’t believe I missed this back in 2020, but it is hilarious:
If you don’t like zany wordplay and Geocities-ish design, you won’t like that. But I love both so it works for me.
Lร Lร
Wow, she’s great; she’s like the Argentinean Remi Wolf.
Descartes a Kant
I like this band’s whole weird retrofuturistic aesthetic. Their other videos are similar and also good.
Ways
Here’s what I wish had gotten popular rather than terrible tattoos — really weird haircuts:
Bizarre cuts have the advantage of impermanence, can do some quite creative things and don’t destroy the lines of the body. Anyway, she’s in this video if you want to see more of her cut and a bit of the back of her head:
I have no idea what the hell is going on in that vid but it’s hard to go wrong with a bunch of Druid/Goth chicks conducting arcane rituals in the woods. I surely cannot find a single thing to complain about there.
Vio Con Dios
This is good, though I think all of Vivaldi sounds better on acoustic violin. And I say that as someone who loves electric violins. However, those are cool damn violins and cello. They are awesome.
Count My Sins
Wow that’s really good. Has just enough death metal stuff going on to make it interesting but not enough to ruin the song with pointless oddball roaring.
Runnin’ Down a Dream
This is probably First to Eleven’s best cover and depending on my mood, my favorite Tom Petty song.
One of the few songs with a really great outro. Better than the intro IMO. (And I never realized Audra had a lot of freckles till I watched this vid.) Damn good cover.
