You can get away with this absurd level of improvisation when everyone in your band is insanely talented. Otherwise it just falls apart. Prince had more panache than just about anyone and such a great guitar style; he played his piece kinda like a violin.

That’s the only credible cover I’ve managed to find of one of my favorite songs from the disco era. The lead singer’s vocal range is astounding. She the only non-classical singer I’ve seen since Mariah Carey was younger whose voice doesn’t crack when singing in whistle register. Starting at 2:44 is simply amazing.

Wow those two are big fun. Love it. I want to know the details of their pedal setup. Wild guitar tone going on there.

Yeah, it’s the full 17 minute version but it’s worth watching because of just how absurdly fucking good she is.

Her fingers are frequently moving more quickly than the camera’s frame rate.

I think this is better than the original. The Olivia version is bratty. And I like bratty and especially Olivia’s variant of same! But the Tove Lo version is just deeper and has more going on emotionally.

Now this is a hard song on the drums. Those polyrhythms! Damn impressive.
