Toxicity

Something I figured out early in life is that a lot of people โ€” like most of my family โ€” will tell you that you are doing something wrong merely because you arenโ€™t doing it the way that they would.

But thatโ€™s not all of them. Some โ€” like some other parts of my family โ€” actively want to harm you.

Both sorts of people are toxic, but the latter are far worse. Finding out that they way โ€” which is typically unusual โ€” that I prefer to do things is actually faster and better in real world performance most often was a real revelation, as most of my teachers and my family castigated me extensively for my methods.

Iโ€™m over it, but itโ€™s worth remembering that not everyone works the same. What to you appears scatterbrained and disorganized is how I best remember things, and how Iโ€™m best able to learn them.
