I only use XFCE for a few minutes a day usually, but it’s nice to be in a desktop environment that doesn’t actively punish me for being smarter than an amoeba.
XFCE isn’t amazing, but it’s functional. And functional goes a long damn way these days compared to the horrors inflicted on us by others.
I sure loves me some XFCE. Everything I need and nothing I don’t. That -is- amazing.
What worries me is that vendors are making it increasingly difficult to run your own OS even on your own hardware.
In the future, I’m guessing this will not be possible at all.
What do we do then?
Same as with cars, hod rod culture meets antiques and collectibles.
Or hacking through treacherous computing.
Or maybe cooking from scratch.
