Large

What a lot of people term โ€œextreme dietingโ€ now wouldโ€™ve been when I was a child called simply a โ€œnormal mealโ€ or even in some cases a large meal.

The same progression happened with soft drinks. When I was seven or eight, the largest size you could buy is now the very same size as the smallest size available at most fast food restaurants.

The โ€œsmallโ€ 8oz size that used to be what most everyone ordered is now not available at all, anywhere.

Who in the world calls those sizes “extreme dieting?” I thought the point of fast food is that it wasn’t a “diet.” I always get the smallest size when I do indulge because it’s simply too much food.

OTOH, someone is getting those Big Gulps and muffins the size of a toddler’s head.

I think a lot of people self medicate with food and use food to help them stay awake instead of going to sleep. Otherwise, who else is buying these weird frankenfood transformer foods like cheese injected deep dish pizza with garlic knots on the crust? Or whatever Taco Bell is selling these days?
Seriously, how many people would buy Red Bulls or 5 Hour Energies or Mountain Dews or terrible coffee if they got their optimum amount of sleep at the optimum time?

You do mention being unusual in the amount of sleep you need and when you sleep.

    • About extreme dieting, I was mainly thinking of Taylor Swift posting what she eats in a day and it seeming completely normal to me (about what I eat in a day), and people criticizing her for her “extreme diet.”

As you noted I don’t sleep normally (as compared to others — I think what I do is perfectly fine), but what you say about calorie consumption related to sleep and lack thereof makes sense.
