Contrary to pop language books, there is nothing particularly strange, deficient, or exceptional in English. Its spelling is a little worse than some languages but not notably so. Itโs a plain, bland language as far as such things go โ which is what global languages tend to become. It has no genders and cases (this is more complex than Iโm making it here) so that makes it easier to learn than quite a few other languages.
The presence of interdental fricatives and large number of vowel sounds and vowel phonemes makes it stand out from other Western European-originated languages, but even those are shared by many other languages and language families.
English is nothing special, really. Just another language. Itโs just the one (most of you reading this) know so it seems unique and special for that reason.
