I wonder if philosophers get annoyed when us plebs babble on about it so much without having spent 10 years analysing all the foundational texts

I have spent 20+ years examining the foundational texts, and they still get annoyed because I don’t have a PhD, even though many of them are not that impressive as thinkers. They have the right credentials, though, which is largely what matters to most.

My advice is just to do your own thing and use experts when it’s helpful. Often it’s not, or counterproductive, if your mind is good enough.
