You: My rent just went up 20%.

Econ PhD: No. Rental inflation around here is running at 20%, so adjusted-for-inflation, your rent hasn't gone up at all.

You:

Econ PhD: Did you hear me?

You: What the hell is wrong with you?

Econ PhD: Probably the 20 years of college.
