You don't lose bodyfat, and then start lifting weights
You lift weights, and then start working on losing bodyfat
The number of people who yo-yo diet and make themselves skinnyfat by doing the former is innumerable

This is 100% true. I didnโt start attempting to lose weight until nearly two years into my weightlifting.
All of the other time, I was attempting to gain weight so I could add muscle. This is how you do it.
