Modern copyright law wasn't written by or for individual creators it was written by and for corporations; to whit: Disney.
Who, I might note, ignore copyrights held by individual creators (see Foster, Alan Dean) when they want. https://t.co/Z0l5cMMckq

Itโs amazing how people will line up to say how nothing can ever be any different, give reasons for it, and then also talk about how much things have changed. It makes no goddamn sense. Scalzi is a putz, but heโs a better-informed putz than most. Still doesnโt mean heโs not a fucking idiot, though. Heโs just an idiot who has read a couple of books, unlike a lot of his other co-dumbasses.
But this is the core problem:
imo America (assumingโฆ) has a ton of upper-middle class people who identify as liberals but are also aware on some level that their status is precarious and so they violently oppose nearly any serious changes
