So many things that tons of people claim are or were impossible to predict are actually very easily predicted, e.g. JIT supply chains leading to shortages under stress or that inflation occurs when money is flooded into a market. Examples abound, really.

I think what these people are saying is that they could have not predicted it, which is quite a different thing indeed. It just speaks to their mental inadequacy, which we were already quite aware of anyway.
