Was just talking about this yesterday. Nowadays it's so easy to locate people online that dropping by their house with no warning feels unnecessary and creepy. But back when you didn't know where anyone was, it often felt friendly and spontaneous! https://t.co/oBKQbhiaub

Yep. It was totally not unusual for friends to drop by unannounced and spontaneously in the 1980s and even into the 1990s. Happened all the time and was very welcomed by most. And it wasnโt just young people โ everyone did this and it was nearly ubiquitous. โHey, letโs go see what [insert name here] is up toโ was a very common phrase and occurrence back then.
It only started becoming considered creepy in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Much was worse then, but much was also better. Itโs a world that most people โ even many who lived through it โ cannot imagine now. And it wasnโt even that long ago.
