Res Tricks

Yeah, almost all of the restriction removal == more Covid narrative seems to be more just random fluctuations combined with seasonal forces that restrictions had little do with either way.

The very strictest restrictions do seem to work. But otherwise, nah.

Abaddon

There were no names for what we saw leaping forth from the earth that day. Great flame-wreathed forms of ghouls and imps spewed from the ground as lava and pyroclastic slag pelted the trees and struck down those unlucky enough to be outside in that howling torrent of infernal denial of all that had been good. Many were possessed by those vile forms where they stood, their eyes glowing embers in the grey.

Some of us made it, though, battling our way through the steam as ponds and lakes became one with the sky, as the air itself singed flesh, as rivers of boiling blood gurgled through the buckling streets. It was a victory bought with much pain as we repulsed the hellborne hordes even as they still pullulated into our world. It felt like it would not ever end. But it did; we had summoned an archfiend greater than any even the demonic masses could command: capitalism.

They could not afford the rent anywhere.

ConBub

Especially two years in with very effective vaccines available, that is very damn odd indeed.

Apogee

China, Russia, and the inflation situation. A worrying update.

Transitory was always unlikely, as additonal shocks always were.

So, the background here is that we thought we had inflation basically contained.

Are you joking? This was never the case. Inflation was always going to sting. But now it’s going to be like a sea full of Portuguese man o’ war jellyfish. I always thought this was about the 50% case. And now here we is.

Somebody really should pay me for this shit. Fucknuggets.

Raised

Academia is such a scam. I see someone in that thread talking about a 1.5% merit raise. Bros and bro-ettes, inflation was 7% in the past year. If you aren’t getting that, you’re getting poorer.

But this was all part of the lockdown plan — making everyone poorer while the oligarchs got massively richer. And it worked fine and is still functioning as intended.

Heightened

I drive a large sedan that weighs nearly 4,000 pounds. Objectively, it’s a huge car. The trunk is immense; I could fit a squad of bodies in there. But when I drive it feels tiny against 6,000+ pound trucks that loom more than three feet higher than it is. Often, I can see nothing around me.

This is not the way it should be.
