I think Iโ€™d like tattoos better if most of them didnโ€™t look just terrible. They almost never are complementary to the people who have them at all. Itโ€™s not that tattoos are inherently aesthetically criminal; itโ€™s more that folks have just atrocious taste.

When I was in Germany I saw a Persian/Iranian woman with some incredible tattoos that really were pretty great, but thatโ€™s the 1 out 10,000 case. Her tattoos were a thematic gestalt and complemented the lines of her body rather than detracting from them. And were also extremely expensive most probably (I didnโ€™t talk to her, so I donโ€™t know).

Most tattoos are just freakinโ€™ atrocities, though.
