So much this. Obscure problem related to the dock that you cannot for the life of you figure out? Firmware update will probably fix it and it takes like 2 minutes

Yep. I’ve fixed issue people have been having for years by updating the firmware on their laptop docks, issues people have gone to their helpdesks repeatedly for and no one could solve. Even most IT people don’t know you can and should update docking station firmware.

Quote from one of the people that I did this for a few years ago: “You’ve solved a problem that people, including me, have spent hundreds of hours on. In 10 minutes.”
