I think a problem I have with comprehending the modern prudishness is what’s the reward? What do people get out of it? It seems to me there has to be some benefit somewhere, and for the life of me I cannot figure out what it is.

Perhaps the perceived anchorite appurtenances are it, but I just have trouble thinking like that.
