I think Aella is in the right here. Everyone having original ideas all the time is just bullshit, and I think this stance that one should be doing that is an artifact of academia and the tenure system. Academics must not โplagiarize,โ which means cleverly hiding the fact that your ideas are not your own while pretending they are novel to you, all in order to advance and, eventually, achieve tenure.
That belief system infected the rest of society for obvious reasons (copyright cartels also had something to do with it, too).
