Printrenches

Fuckinโ€™ hell, you can tell this person has been in the trenches of IT.

Iโ€™ve seen that play out numerous times. Americans are so lazy that theyโ€™ll refuse to walk 15 feet to get their documents on a real printer that works and instead demand a crappy office printer that nearly requires a full-time helpdesk person (especially the way users often abuse them).

Part of the problem is that in traditional offices, having an in-office printer is a status symbol so users demand them because it makes them ImportantTM. I really appreciated an old boss who unilaterally banned all in-office printers for all users and made them print to actual enterprise-quality printers. There was nearly a rebellion but he won that battle.

Immediately, helpdesk tickets decreased by 60% and ticket resolution times went down enormously.
