I used to have one of those, from 1983 or so to about 1986. This history is wrong. Amber monitors were available for a much longer time than 1987 to 1990. I was there and lived it. Here’s proof, from a 1983 issue of Compute!.
They were indeed easier on the eyes than the green monochrome.
