Marisa Tomei for โ€˜My Cousin Vinnyโ€™ Is the Rare Perfect Oscars Win.

Agreed. She was so damn great in that part and I loved how many people got angry that a relatively-unknown model-turned-actor won for playing a lower-class person in a comedy film. Thatโ€™s one of the few movies Iโ€™ve rewound (VCRs at the time!) 5-6 times just to see her parts again.

I agree with Tomei why so many people โ€” inside Hollywood and out โ€” were scandalized by the win.

โ€œWhen I was younger, it hurt my feelings,โ€ she said. โ€œIt made me quite ashamed, actually. But on the other hand, itโ€™s a load of [expletive]. I think it had to do more with the role that I playedโ€”that it was comedic and that it wasnโ€™t upper class. I think it was more of a classist thing, frankly.โ€

That is one of my favorite film perfomance of all time. And it still holds up to this day.
