A lot of discussion you read about Covid goes like this:
Covid paranoid: Covid does this amazing shocking thing that no other virus has done EVAR!!!!!!
Anyone with a clue: *squints a little* Hmm, looks fairly similar to other coronaviruses, and the post-viral sequelae match up quite will with other PAIS-like effects from other viruses of comparable severity, including the common flu.
Covid paranoid:: But Covid is more dangerous than nuclear weapons and John Wick combined to this day and breaks your immune system FOREVER!!!!!!111111
Anyone with a clue:: Vaccination and some level of herd immunity has proven very effective. It is true now that Covid will always be with us, though, and getting it repeatedly is not good. All correct. But itโs now on the order of the flu (finally), not some apocalyptic end-of-the-world virus (as much as many Covid paranoid types wish it were). Like all other infectious viruses, it does exhibit some temporary immunosuppressive tendencies but mostly thatโs just how the human immune system works in general.
Iโm no immunologist or virologist. But I can read. And thatโs often all it takes to just not believe wildly inaccurate shit.
