The problem with sites like Crooked Timber and their ilk is that they seem smart on the surface but the analysis there is no more erudite and no more nuanced than that which they are criticizing. It’s all cosplay of the contrarian educated. It’s not interesting and it’s only right by accident.
Well, that’s no kind of way to be right. It doesn’t delve. It just scratches the surface, leaves a mark but it matters not at all. It looks deep until you dive in and then hit the bottom two inches below.
I guess I just want everyone to be Zeynep. But only Zeynep can be Zeynep, sadly.
